Diablo 4 Eriman's Pyre Walkthrough

Upon entering Eriman's Pyre, you will quickly learn of the reason for its name. This perpetually-burning settlement is made up of 4 sub-sections, and in the dead center is a large pyre where Eriman was burned by his own fellow villagers. His spirit still lingers at his place of death and the town is under a decades-long curse. Clear the Fallen congregating at the pyre and then speak to Eriman's spirit. Shortly after, more enemies will spawn, along with a Fallen Overseer elite. Defeat the overseer and collect the Villagers' Remains it leaves behind.

Near the pyre are four Fiery Focuses, each one corresponding to a section of the village and the flames that block them. You must use the Villagers' Remains on these focuses to extinguish the flame walls, allowing access to each sub-section. Each section of the village has a Fallen Overseer with additional Villagers' Remains and the goal is to extinguish each of the Fiery Focuses around the central pyre. You can do this in any order but for the sake of simplicity, we will go through them in a clockwise direction starting from the northwest section.

erimans pyre altar of lilith strongholds diablo 4 wiki guideMake your way to the northwest, defeating the hordes of burning Undead and Fallen along the way while heading towards the Fallen Overseer marked by a skull on the map. This overseer is an elite named Xazzonnosh Taintspawn and defeating it is a pretty standard affair. Collect the Villagers' Remains and, before returning to the central pyre, there are a couple things to check out here. Open the chest to the left of the elite for an Anonymous Letter, depicting events that lead to the burning of Eriman. Next, check the small building to the right and destroy the Burnt Wagon in the back to reveal an opening which leads to an Altar of Lilith.

Return to the central pyre and extinguish the northeast focus. Beware as the pyre will now fire several projectiles in the area periodically. Defeat Syn Wretchbane, the area's Overseer and grab the remains left behind. There is nothing notable in this area other than a couple of spirits around a pile of ashes in the center, interacting with them reveals some lore bits. There are also more enemies in the northeast, guarding a chest.

Return to the central pyre once again and extinguish the southeast focus, then make your way through the opened passage to the southeast section of the village. Defeat Chomz Thunderdancer, grab his remains and return to the central pyre. Extinguish the final focus in the southwest and head to that section.

Near the entrance, look for an alcove on the left with a chest and two spirits behind it. The chest contains Eriman's Plea, a note for more backstory. An elite Hellcaller Captain may also spawn here. Continue on south and defeat Mal'gushu Boltcrawler for the final set of remains and once again return to the central pyre. Interact with the pyre itself to extinguish it, after which the stronghold's boss encounter against Duz'Agur, Eriman's Bane will commence.

Eriman's Pyre Boss Fight

Duz'Agur is a Fallen shaman type of opponent who shouldn't pose too much of a threat. His notable attacks include a linear targeted spell that leaves a trail of blood on the ground that lingers for a few seconds. Clearly telegraphed and easy to avoid, but can quickly drain your health if you step into it for too long. Another mildly dangerous spell is when Duz'Agur absorbs multiple fireballs, creating a burst in a large radius around him and then following up by releasing the fireballs randomly throughout the arena. This spell deals the most damage at melee range. Periodically, he will also raise his hands up high and slowly release fireballs from the pyre in the center of the arena. During this move, he is vulnerable to attack and most of the fireballs will not even touch you so make use of it to quickly bring down his health.

Once you defeat the boss, the freed spirit of Eriman will appear to deliver a monologue to the rest of the villagers, before they all finally go to rest. Head to the northwest section of the village to find the Wanderer's Shrine. Interact with it to conquer Eriman's Pyre, liberating the stronghold.

Note that completing this stronghold will also unlock the level 38 dungeon Oblivion in the northwest section of the village, where Xazzonnosh Taintspawn was fought.
