Infernal Hordes Location & Information Diablo 4
- Duration: 10 weeks
- Start Date: August 6th, 2024
- Season Start: Season of the Infernal Hordes
The Infernal Hordes is a survival mode with waves of enemies that leads to a distinctive Boss fight. Although it's meant as an endgame challenge, players can begin this mode once they reach World Tier 3. The difficulty of this mode is comparable to Nightmare Dungeons, with players able to increase the Tier of each Infernal Horde run using an Infernal Compass and Abyssal Scrolls. Additionally, similar to Nightmare Dungeons, each run allows a limited number of player revives before it concludes.
Difficulty on Infernal Hordes range from Tier 1 to Tier 8, and monster levels scale as the difficulty level increases. Tier 1 monsters start at Level 60 and increase incrementally by 20 levels in each Tier, capping at level 200 at Tier 8. This applies to all types of monsters, such as Bosses.
Also, higher Tiers will increase the amount of waves players will have to fight through, up to 10 waves at Tier 8.
It is important to note that each wave has an associated 60-second timer. Different types of demons will appear before the time runs out, and players will not have to defeat all of them, but rather survive for the extent of the wave. Besides that, completing events and killing certain demon types will award players with Burning Aether, so it is important to try to complete as much as possible to maximize rewards

Diablo 4 Infernal Hordes changes with Vessel Of Hatred
Infernal Hordes Update
The new update to Diablo 4 has introduced many changes to the base game and many of its features, Infernal Hordes are no exception to these changes:
- Infernal Compasses can no longer be crafted, and they will only appear as rare drops on Torment difficulties. In order to access at least Torment I, you have to beat Tier 20 on The Pit of the Artificers. This makes more rewarding than before, but they are not as frequent, so don't expect to have your inventory filled with Infernal Compasses.
- The difficulty of the activity is now purely based on the difficulty you are playing on as well. There is no other influence on it.
- The number of Waves during the horde will be randomly determined on each Compass Drop.
- Revives have also been revised and changed. They are not permanently set to 4 Revives for all Infernal Hordes runs.
Loot Changes in Infernal Hordes
The chests found at the end of the run have undergone some significant changes too! The equipment and Items chests are gone for good, since they are considered no longer necesary.
There have been some changes regarding how to interact, or open certain chests. For example, Materials chests now also consume all Aether, exactly like the Gold ones, granting greater rewards the more Aether is spent.
Greater Chest of Equipment has become much more expensive. Now it costs 200 Aether, instead of the 60 it costed before. This allows it to provide an Ancestral Legendary.
These items have a guaranteed Greater Affix, and are always maximum item level, which is 800 after the update.
Another new change introduced with the upddate, is that The Council now drops Legendary items with Infernal Hordes affixes.
Aether Events
Aether Events are the main source of Burning Aether for players. There are a total of 6 different Aether Events that can happen during Infernal Hordes. In some cases, it is important to try to complete them as soon as they become available.
Most Aether Events appear on the mini-map as pulsating circles at the moment they spawn, and after that moment, take the form of a small flame icon.
Aether Events in general appear on the mini-map as pulsating circles in the moments right before they spawn, and then once spawned, they take the form of little flame icons. Dropped Burning Aether appears on the mini-map as shinning small blue dots.
