Midwinter Blight is a Seasonal Event in Diablo 4. Midwinter Blight was introduced during the Season of Blood and announced during the 2023 BlizzCon event as a holiday event. Midwinter Blight is specially introduced to bring the winter spirit into the Fractured Peaks. Seasonal Events are special, optional Quests, that players can partake in to experience new challenges, special content, and objectives and gain rare rewards. Seasonal Events are additional content introduced during different Seasons in addition to the Season Journey objectives. Midwinter Blight Location & Information Diablo 4

The Midwinter Blight introduced new Quests and Activities to rings in the winter along with a winter storm that has taken over Fractured Peaks. This event is the first holiday event introduced in Diablo 4. It begins in Kyovashad where players will encounter a Bard named Gillian around the Hibernal Square who warns of the incoming storm. Players will also find the Totem of Midwinter in the same location in Kyovashad which will play a part in the event which will predominantly take place in Fractured Peaks. Players will face new foes like Blightfiends and the Red Cloaked Horror while completing new objectives to progress in this season's event.
Midwinter Blight Event: How it Works Diablo 4
This time-limited event officially marks the beginning of the first-ever winter festivities in Diablo 4. During this period, all participating players can earn cosmetic rewards, a new elixir, additional titles, and a new seasonal aspect 'Shard of Dawn' as part of the Midwinter Blight Rewards. These rewards can only be obtained during the event period which runs from December 12 to January 2. When the event expires, players can no longer earn these rewards, however, non-seasonal rewards will remain in inventories.
To begin participating in the event, players will travel to Kyovashad and look for the new NPC called Gileon found west of the Waypoint. Gileon is a Bard rallying people to come together and defeat the rising evil called the Red-Cloaked Horror terrorizing Fractured Peaks. Participating during this limited-time event will drop seasonal materials that players can exchange at the Collection's Table for various rewards. Blighted Revelry: New Midwinter Blight Event in Diablo 4
The Red-Cloaked Horror poses a threat anew. Players will find this new boss after completing the Mastery for the Blighted Revelry event, which randomly spawns in any of the event areas in Fractured Peaks. During this event, players will begin by lighting up a bonfire that will melt down the surrounding Frigid Husks while enemies are swarming in to attack.
Players will be challenged to protect the bonfire from the enemies while staying alive. After some time, players can destroy the Frigid Husks, and the Red-Cloaked Horror will appear if you complete the Mastery level. The Mastery level requires player to complete the event in approximately 1 minute and 50 seconds.
The Red-Cloaked Horror will drop the Red-Cloaked Trophy upon defeat and will reward players with two new Titles: Frigid and Reveler upon defeating it for the first time. The Red-Cloaked Trophy can be used to exchange for 1 Midwinter Proof. Visit the vendor in Kyovashad to exchange your items.
Diablo 4: Midwinter Blight Seasonal Materials and Currency
During the Midwinter Blight event, there will be new materials and currency for players to collect and exchange to obtain time-limited rewards. Midwinter Proof is the new seasonal currency that can be used to purchase Midwinter Rewards from Gileon at the Midwinter Square in Kyovashad. There are 3 ways for players to obtain the new seasonal currency:
Similar to a Helltide event in Diablo 4, the following materials can be found within the purple-marked zone of the Midwinter Blight. Once players have collected enough materials, they can exchange them at the Collection's Table in Kyovashad, located next to Gileon. Players can use the Midwinter Proofs to buy various time-limited rewards.
- Blighted Fragment: Can be collected from fallen Blightfiends. [300 Blighted Fragment for 1 Midwinter Proof]
- Lost Heirloom: Can be collected by destroying Frigid Husks, found scattered within the Midwinter Blight area. This is a structure similar to other destroyable world items. [30 Lost Heirlooms for 1 Midwinter Proof]
- Red-Cloaked Trophy: Can be collected by killing the Red-Cloaked Horror, the new seasonal boss. [1 Red-Cloaked Trophy for 1 Midwinter Proof]
Diablo 4 Midwinter Proof
Information on Midwinter Proof D4
Midwinter Proof is a type of currency in Diablo 4 that can be obtained through exchanging materials in Midwinter Square. The Midwinter Proof can then be used to purchase various items from the Midwinter Proof Vendor in Kyovashad.
There are 3 materials that can be exchanged for Midwinter Proof and the exchange rates are the following:
- 300 Blighted Fragment to 1 Midwinter Proof
- 30 Lost Heirloom to 1 Midwinter Proof
- 1 Red-Cloaked Trophy to 1 Midwinter Proof
Once players have gathered enough materials, they can proceed to the Collection's Table at Midwinter Square in Kyovashad to exchange them.
Where to Spend Midwinter Proof in Diablo 4
Midwinter Proof can only be obtained by exchanging 1 of the 3 materials in the Collection's Table. After players have acquired enough Midwinter Proof, they can spend this on the Midwinter Square Vendor to purchase time-limited cosmetics, a new offensive aspect, a magical elixir, and caches that drop random items.
Players may exchange Blighted Fragments, Lost Heirlooms, or a Red-Cloaked Trophy into a Midwinter Proof. They can obtain these materials by participating in Midwinter Events by eliminating midwinter-themed enemies, destroying structures, or slaying the boss.
Midwinter Proof Guide in Diablo 4
The newly added Midwinter-themed enemies and structures will be found scattered in the snowy regions of Kyovashad. This event is similar to a Helltide event where players will be rewarded for eliminating Midwinter Demons, destroying objects, and slaying the Midwinter boss found in the purple-marked regions. There are 3 ways to obtain Midwinter Proof in Diablo 4:
- Defeat Midwinter Demons in Fractured Peaks for Blighted Fragment
- Destroy Frigid Husks for Lost Heirloom
- Defeat the Red-Cloaked Horror for the Red-Cloaked Trophy
How to Get Midwinter Proof in Diablo 4
Defeat Midwinter Demons for Blighted Fragments
Midwinter-themed enemies are found scattered across the snowy regions of Kyovashad. To make the most out of your farm in Diablo 4, make sure to participate in Blighted Revelry to earn the most Blighted Fragments. These events are marked by the orange ping indicating the event in progress. There will be several Midwinter-themed enemies that will appear during this period and they randomly drop 5-7 Blighted Fragments each time they are killed.
If you complete the Blighted Revelry event within the allotted time for mastery, you will also get to encounter the Red-Cloaked Terror that drops an item upon defeat, that can also be exchanged for a Midwinter Proof.
Aside from these events, players will also find Midwinter-themed enemies scattered throughout Kyovashad.
Destroy Frigid Husks for Lost Heirlooms
Aside from the Midwinter-themed enemies, there are also Midwinter-themed structures called Frigid Husks. These are objects that can be destroyed and found in the snowy regions of Kyovashad. Destroying these objects will randomly drop 1-4 Lost Heirlooms that can be used to exchange for a Midwinter Proof.
Players can exchange 30 Lost Heirlooms for 1 Midwinter Proof and use them to buy from the Midwinter Square Vendor in Kyovashad.
Slay the Red-Cloaked Horror for the Red-Cloaked Trophy
The Red-Cloaked Horror is a boss introduced in the Midwinter Blight event of Diablo 4. You can encounter this boss when you complete the Blighted Revelryh event in the stated time which is roughly 1 minute and 50 seconds. After clearing the event, The Red-Cloaked Horror will appear in the same location.
Defeating the Red-Cloaked Horror will reward you with 1 Red-Cloaked Trophy which can be exchanged for a Midwinter Proof at the Collection's Table in Kyovashad.

Diablo 4 Midwinter Square Vendor Inventory
Players can use Midwinter Proof to purchase a variety of items such as cosmetics, an offensive aspect, a new magical elixir, and other various items from the Midwinter Square Vendor. You can open the shop by speaking to Gileon in Kyovashad.
Mounts must be unlocked in order to be able to use ant Cosmetics or Equipment, players will have to complete the priority quest called Donan's Favor to gain access to Mount and the Mount services at the Stable Master.
Midwinter Blight Rewards in Diablo 4
By participating in Midwinter Blight, players can earn a number of Cosmetic Items for a selection of Weapons and Gear, as well as some trophies. You can find the full list of Midwinter Blight Rewards below:

The cosmetics alone will cost a total of 440 Midwinter Proofs and during our playthrough, it took 15 minutes to farm 10 Midwinter Proofs using a Level 86 Build. This number may vary depending on how fast and efficient your current build is at farming materials. From the same vendor, players may also buy the Shard of Dawn Offensive Aspect and the new Magical Elixir, Gileon's Brew. Additionally, there are Midwinter Caches that can be exchanged with the vendor at Midwinter Square. Each of the caches contains valuable rewards such as Armor, Gem Fragments, and a chance to receive a Gileon's Brew.

Midwinter Tribute Mechanics and Progress in Diablo 4
During the Midwinter Blight event, players will earn additional rewards each time they exchange materials into Midwinter Proof. Every exchange will contribute a specific amount of experience towards leveling your Midwinter Square and Midwinter Tribute. The cosmetics alone will cost a total of 440 Midwinter Proofs and during our playthrough, it took 15 minutes to farm 10 Midwinter Proofs using a Level 86 Build. This number may vary depending on how fast and efficient your current build is at farming materials.
Players will earn better rewards the more they level up the Midwinter Tribute, all the way to Tier 6. These rewards that players can get are obtained from leveling the Midwinter Tribute. Each time they exchange 300 Blighted Fragments, they will earn 10XP. 30 Lost Heirlooms will give 20 XP, and 1 Red-Cloaked Trophy will net players with 30 XP. The rewards per tier are as follows:
- Tier 1: 10,000 Gold + Greater Midwinter Spoils
- Tier 2: 25,000 Gold + Greater Midwinter Spoils
- Tier 3: 50,000 Gold + Greater Midwinter Spoils and Unlocks Midwinter Ward
