Diablo IV Witch of the Wastes Walkthrough

For this quest, your objective is to find Valtha in the Cinder Wastes which is north-northeast of the map from your current location which is the Ruined Tower in Wejinhani. Simply open the map and you'll see there is an encircled area where you need to explore.

The nearest point of interest to reach the cinder wastes is the Cinder Shack Cell [Diablo 4 Map Link]. When you arrive, you'll encounter mobs here, fight your way through or you can circle your way around the enemies by riding your mount, you'll know you're in the right direction when you reach Valtha's Hovel which is going north of the Cinder Wastes.

Upon arriving at Valtha's Hovel, you will need to search the area to find the Purified Quicksilver, the area you need to search is marked with a small glowing circle on the mini-map. Read the passages such as the Manifesto and Valtha's Spellbook and this will trigger the arrival of Valtha. Speak to Valtha and this will trigger a boss fight against her.

Valtha is a witch and will use magical attacks against you, she moves slowly and she requires time to conjure a spell if she will attack, this makes it easier to keep attacking her while she moves around and conjures magical attacks. Valtha will conjure meteors that will fall from above, make sure to look at the red glowing marks on the ground to avoid getting hit within its radius.

Valtha is also capable of summoning mobs to assist her in combat, you'll see blood seals on the ground when mobs will appear. If this happens quickly take out the summoned enemies then shift your attention to Valtha to continue pressuring her with attacks. Once she reaches low health, more summoning circles will appear in the arena, make sure to quickly slay her to avoid getting outnumbered by mobs. Upon defeating her, make sure to grab the items that drop from her and the Vial of Purified Quicksilver.

After slaying Valtha, you need to return to Donan to give him the vial which is back in the Ruined Tower in Wejinhani, if you unlocked the Waypoint, you can fast travel there with ease. When you return to the Ruined Tower where Taissa and Donan are, he will instruct you to place the vial in the bowl that's on the center table, next to Taissa, and then speak to her about your encounter with her friend Valtha. This formally completes the quest and you'll be rewarded with XP, Gold, and a staff weapon, the Ember Staff.

To place the Vial i had to run to Donan, otherwise if i tried to fast travel the item kept dropping from the Mission bag

      • I wasn't able to place the vial after killing Valtha and using the fast travel back to Donan. I recommend walking back to Donan (or using a mount) if you also run into this issue. Happened 3 times in a row for me.
