Malign Devotion is a Side Quest in Diablo 4. Malign Devotion can be found in Ked Bardu at the Kotama Grasslands in Dry Steppes. Side Quests are optional missions that players can complete in order to obtain different rewards. Players are usually rewarded XP, and Gold depending on your level. Completing Side Quests in a specific region will also add to the Region Renown. Side Quests can be acquired by encountering various events or interacting with different NPCs.
A tradesman has been recruiting help to rebuild a ruined town.

Malign Devotion Walkthrough
Begin the Quest by speaking to the aspiring mason, Husun. Ask, "Are you in a hurry to leave?" he'll explain that he's to train as a mason and points you in the direction of people who need help. This will activate the Quest and highlight your next objective location which will be just north of your current location, which will be some distance to the southwest from your current location. The indicated area will be indicated by a small blue circle, leading to Alzuuda in the Fields of Hatred. Teleport there if you have the Alzuuda Waypoint unlocked already. Otherwise, place an objective marker to find the shortest path there.
- Travel to Alzuuda in search of Lakren the mason
Speak to Lakren and ask, "How can I help rebuild Sanctuary?" He will explain that he believes you can all rebuild the world, one step at a time.
- Meet Lakran at the Lost Monument
The next indicated objective location will be northeast of your current location, in The Scarred Coast. Place an objective marker in the indicated area on your map to find the fastest path there. You'll find yourself at the Cenotaph of the Devout, with no sign of Lakren or any of the other builders, but you do find bodies near the statue.
- Investigate the crypt below the Lost Monument
The area you'll need to investigate is the Cellar to your left called the Lost Monument Crypt. You can find the Cellar on our Interactive Map here: [Diablo 4 Map Link]. Move forward along the halls until you find yourself in a ritual chamber, with Lakren praying to the Blessed Mother atop a demonic ritual circle. It seems he's laid a trap to sacrifice you to his corrupted deity.
- Defeat Lakren
He'll start to swing at you with a sword, but Lakran is no threat. However, after a few swings, he'll move forward to the altar and after a short period of time transform into a Vile Overseer.
- Defeat the summoned demon
The Elite Enemy will have a single Affix, which enchants it with a random element. Mind its attacks and make quick work of it.
- Inspect the Gospel of the Mother
Interact with the opened book in front of the altar. This will complete the quest.
