Aberrant Cinders are a Currency in Diablo 4. Aberrant Cinders are the exclusive currency of Helltide Events, and players can ONLY get them in areas that are currently experiencing a Helltide. Their main use it to allow players to open the locked Tortured Gifts that appear during these events, especially the coveted Mystery Chests that contain valuable random loot.
Aberrant Cinders Diablo 4 Information
- Aberrant Cinders can be obtained ONLY on regions experimenting a Helltide. Players can't obtain them in any other way, neither by trading items with Merchants nor by trading with other players. They aren't a tradable currency.
- When a player dies during a Helltide they will lose half the amount of Aberrant Cinders they possess at the moment of death. These lost Aberrant Cinders can't be recovered and are forever lost to players.
- When the Helltide event finishes, any remaining Aberrant Cinders players possess are lost, and won't be able to be regained in any way. Once a new Helltide event begins, players' Aberrant Cinders counter will be restarted
- Aberrant Cinders main use is to open Helltide Chests, especially the coveted Mystery Chests, which contain valuable random loot. In order to open them, players have to spend a specific amount of Aberrant Cinders. The amount required to open them ranges from 75 to 175 Aberrant Cinders.
- Helltide events are very good events to farm for specific pieces of equipment that need to be upgraded.
How to farm Aberrant Cinders in Diablo 4
- In order to obtain Aberrant Cinders in Diablo 4, players have to head to a Region currently affected by the Helltide event first, and start taking any activity within it. Activities like killing monsters, harvesting plants, interacting with ore seams, opening chests or completing events have a chance of dropping Aberrant Cinders.
- Collecting Aberrant Cinders is the main purpose of the Helltide runs, so players must be extremely careful to not lose their amount by performing reckless actions against difficult, elite groups of monsters.
- Please note that the amount of Aberrant Cinders dropped by these events or even monsters is random, and not directly related to their difficulty. This means that taking on a group of elite monsters may yield the same amount of Aberrant Cinders that taking on a group of common mob Monsters.
- To farm Aberrant Cinders more effectively, players should focus on speed and mobility, killing faster and more amounts of Monsters as quickly as possible. Avoiding more difficult fights may be the difference of keeping your currency or losing half of it for being reckless.
Where to use Aberrant Cinders in Diablo 4
Aberrant Cinders have to be spent at Tortured Gifts in Helltide afflicted areas. These Tortured Gifts are chests that drop random loot, but most of them can limit the category of their loot.
- For example, players can encounter the Tortured Gift of Handguards, and open it by spending 75 Aberrant Cinders. They are guaranteed to get Gloves as loot, but on the other hand, it won't drop any other type of equipment
These Tortured Gifts can be identified in the map by their icon 
. Note that Mystery Chests or Tortured Gifts of Mystery can't be seen on the map, they will only appear once you are really close to their location.

- Note that Tortured Gift of Armor refers to any type of specific armor party. For example, it may be a Tortured Gift of Handguards or Tortured Gift of Boots, or any other piece of armor gear.
- Light Weaponry refers to one-handed weapons, while Heavy Weaponry refers to two-handed weapons.
