Gems in Diablo 4 are precious Gem embody innate magical abilities. There are a variety of Gem types that can be discovered or crafted in the game, and each of them offers different benefits when socketed into different Gear-slots. In general, Gems will provide offensive stats to Weapons, defensive stats to Armor, and resistances to Jewelry. By choosing the right Gem for the right Gear-slot, players can significantly enhance the stats of their equipment, making them more formidable in combat.

 

NOTE Patch 1.4.0: The Blacksmith has been updated to align with the new gear crafting system, and The Occultist has been adjusted in response to itemization changes. Additionally, The Occultist now has a capped Gold cost for re-rolling items. The Alchemist and The Jeweler have also received functionality and product updates.

 

Diablo 4 Jeweler Gems & Socketing

The Jeweler is a valuable NPCs in the world of Diablo 4, as they specialize in Crafting and socketing powerful Gems that can enhance your gear. Whether you need more Damage, Resistances, Life, or Damage Reduction, the Jeweler has everything you need to boost your character's stats. You can easily change your mind later on. The Jeweler can unsocket your Gems from your gear without damaging them, so you can use them for different gear combinations. In addition to upgrading Armor and Weapons at The Blacksmith, you can also enhance the bonus Resistances and extra Stats of your Rings and Amulet with the Jeweler's help.

 

How to unlock the Jeweler in Diablo 4

Upon reaching level 20, a Priority Quest objective will be given to you, requiring a visit to The Jeweler in Kyovashad. You will be assigned a task to upgrade a Crude Ruby into a Chipped Ruby, which involves crafting it with Gold and three Crude Rubies.

But what's the use of a Gem without a Socket? Sockets are an additional bonus stat that can be found on items that allows you to insert Gems to gain their stats. Your Helm, Chest, Pants, Rings, Amulet, and Weapons all have a different number of Sockets. If you're lucky, you may come across a Scattered Prism as a reward from defeating a World Boss or Treasure Goblin, which can be used to add Sockets to your gear.

 

Diablo 4 Adding Sockets to Items

One of the benefits of working with The Jeweler in Diablo 4 is the ability to add sockets to your gear. If you happen to find an amazing item that doesn't have a socket, don't worry! For the price of a Scattered Prism, the Jeweler can add sockets to it. Scattered Prisms are not commonly found, but you may get lucky and obtain one after defeating a World Boss. It's worth noting that not all gear-slots can have sockets added to them. Refer to the list below to see which slots can have sockets added, and how many sockets they can have.

 

Crafting Gems in Diablo 4

By bringing Gems you find on your adventures to The Jeweler, you can craft more powerful versions of them. The process requires 3 Gems of the same tier and Gold to craft 1 Gem of the next tier. The Gems provide various bonuses when socketed into different gear slots, and upgrading them will enhance those bonuses. Upgrading a Gem to a higher tier requires the appropriate level to perform.  The levels listed are character levels, and are applicable on a per character basis.  If one character is level 70, they can craft upgrade all gems to highest tier, but a level 10 of the same account cannot craft upgrade any gems.
