Whispers of the Dead is a Priority Quest in Diablo 4. Whispers of the Dead can be found at The Writhing Mire, Hawezar and it unlocks the Tree of Whispers after completing the main campaign. Priority Quests are important side content missions that unlock specific content, such as item upgrading, potion upgrading or event Class Mechanics for each of the five available Classes.

 

The Tree of Whispers has promised rewards in exchange for collecting the debts of those who hide from them.

Whispers of the Dead Objectives and Information

  • Players have to complete the main storyline in order to unlock this Priority Quest.

 

Whispers of the Dead Walkthrough

  • Speak with the Tree of Whispers: Head to The Writhing Mire, Hawezar. Approach the Tree and interact with it.
  • Collect 10 Grim Favors, then return to the Tree of Whispers. Players have to collect Grim Favors by completing Whispers of the Dead. After interacting with the tree, they will start spawning on the map. They are limited-time mini-quests, meaning that players have a given time to complete them. If they don't manage to do so, they will disappear and be replaced by a new set of Whispers of the Dead.
  • Whispers of the Dead can be easily recognizable on the map because of their distinctive icon backgrounds. This differentiates them from normal or standard map icons.
  • Return to the Tree of Whispers. Depending on the World Tier in which you are playing, you receive different items when you give the Tree all 10 Grim Favors.
    • Note that changing World Tier while you have some Grim Favors, will restart the count. 
    • Starting at World Tier 3, you will receive Sigils and Glyphs. Sigils will allow players to enter Nightmare Dungeons, while Glyphs are used in the Paragon Boards.
