Diablo 4 Temple of Rot Walkthrough

The Temple of Rot is a very straightforward slaughterfest that tasks you with locating and slaying four elite Cannibal Champions:

  • Bostar, the Breaker
  • Corpse Spawn
  • Razorface, the Carrion Zealot
  • Arden, the Ravenous

Note that throughout the temple, you will come across several bound prisoners that you can free for some extra loot and health globes.

From the entrance, make your way to the center of the temple, through a set of double doors and you will find Bostar, surrounded by many lesser enemies. Make liberal use of AoEs and dispatch them all. The door behind him only opens from the other side so take the path to the southwest and then turn back north and go past a set of double doors to a room with the corpse of a giant abomination.

Clear the enemies in the room and continue ahead to find the Corpse Spawn elite. After killing it, look to the right for a cluster of eggs blocking the path. Destroy them to get to a room where Razorface awaits. Clear the room, kill the elite and unlock the door to the southwest. This is the door that was inaccessible from behind Bostar.

Finally, Arden can be found in the very southwest corner of the temple and killing him will fill up the progress bar, allowing you to move forward to the temple's Boss Encounter against Molqarth the Hungerer. His lair can be found in the very north of the temple.

Temple of Rot Boss Fight

temple of rot boss diablo 4 wiki guide

This boss encounter is actually a two part fight, the first part against Molqarth, the Hungerer and the second part against the Spawn of Molqarth. Each boss has their own individual health bar. The fight itself is very standard, with Molqarth using regular melee attacks for the most part. His most notable move is ejecting several toxic projectiles from his body and leaving poisonous pools around the arena, including right underneath him. Melee players beware when he begins the move, as the pool that spawns directly underneath him is quite large and deals damage very quickly, and will be especially dangerous in combination with his melee attacks if you don't get out quickly enough. The Spawn of Molqarth is essentially the same fight. It will also use the toxic projectiles, but its melee attacks are slightly faster and the creature can very quickly close the distance by leaping.

Once the bosses are defeated, make your way back into the temple proper and look to the northwest to find the Wanderer's Shrine. Interact with it to conquer the Temple of Rot.

Molqarth is legitimately one of the worst fights they have in this game. He hits so hard and his hitbox for his attacks is so utter garbage that unless you're ranged, you're either forced to go in seriously overprepared or find a way to cheese him to death. There's literally no skill involved in fighting him in melee, because the fight is so half-arsed of a design.
Even with +15% move speed his swings hit you as you're running out, even if you only go into attack once and the model doesn't even get close to hitting.
