Vampiric Powers in Diablo 4 are special powers in the game introduced in the Season of Blood, the second Season of Diablo 4. These Seasonal powers are the method that Erys and the Wanderer have found to compact the growing threat of Lord Zir, the Dark Master's sanguine legions. Having contracted Vampirism, without its detrimental effects, the Wanderer can now use the bloodsuckers' powers against them. Vampiric Powers are unlocked and made stronger through the new Seasonal mechanics of the game.

Essentially functioning as another layer of customization for the Wanderer and the player's chosen BuildsVampiric Powers bring with them a new depth to building your characters. Their use, acquisition, and development are intrinsically tied to the different new mechanics and events of Season of Blood, making them accessible and useful for all players. They will serve a variety of different functions in the Wanderer's arsenal, from instantly sapping the blood of all weaker Enemies surrounding them, to taking the Enemies' vitality as their own.

Diablo 4 All Vampiric Powers

As mentioned previously, Vampiric Powers are divided into two types - Minor Vampiric PowersMinor Vampiric Powers will have Activation Costs of up to three Pacts, while Major Vampiric Powers will have Activation Costs of anywhere from four to six Pacts. The higher the Activation Costs, the stronger that particular Vampiric Power is. The Pact types that make up their Activation Costs also give a glimpse as to what type of benefits players will get for equipping them. Additionally, new to Diablo 4, the Season of Blood is introducing a new keyword called Vampiric Curse.

Vampiric Curse: Killing an enemy affected by your Vampiric Curse stores their soul. Casting a Defensive, Macabre, or Agility Skill will unleash stored souls to attack nearby enemies. You can hold up to 8 souls.

Below is a table containing all the new Vampiric Powers now available in the Season of Blood, their detailed power description, and their Activation Costs. Note that the values shown in their power description reflect the values that they would be should the Vampiric Power be improved to the maximum level of three.

Diablo 4 Vampiric Powers Guides

Diablo 4 What are Vampiric Powers

Vampiric Powers are the Wanderer's newfound abilities that they've gained from contracting Vampirism during the events of the Quest The Hunter's Chase, which happens shortly into the new Seasonal Questline. Players have access to twenty-two new Vampiric Powers which they can customize and consider as they create their Builds for their new seasonal characters. Vampiric Powers have no class restrictions whatsoever, so players will be able to mix and match for their Builds as they please. Players are allowed to equip a total of five Vampiric Powers at a time.

season of blood2 seasons general information diablo 4 wiki guide

Vampiric Powers are divided into two categories, namely Minor Vampiric Powers and Major Vampiric Powers. The obvious difference is that Major Vampiric Powers are more potent and have a stronger effect than Minor Vampiric Powers. However, along with this advantage, they will also have higher Activation Costs. Activation Costs are the only limiting factor for Vampiric Powers, aside from the aforementioned fact that players can only equip five at a time. The Activation Costs of Vampiric Powers are accomplished through new features of the Armor pieces that players will pick up during the Season of Blood, as informed by the new Pact Armor System. Simply put, Vampiric Powers are a number of Pacts from one to six, and players must have the corresponding number of Pacts, of the corresponding Pact types, in the Armor pieces they have equipped. Vampiric Powers with Activation Costs that are not reached can be equipped, but will not be beneficial to players in any way whatsoever.

How to Acquire and Improve Vampiric Powers in D4

Players will be able to acquire their first Vampiric Power when the Wanderer contracts Vampirism during the events of the Quest The Hunter's Chase. This unlocks the Vampiric Power button to open the tab for it in the Inventory and Character menus. There, players will be able to find and view all the Vampiric Powers, whether or not they have acquired them already, allowing players to plan whichever they'd want for their Builds. As mentioned previously, players will only be able to equip five Vampiric Powers at a time. Most Vampiric Powers can be acquired and unlocked through the 'Spend Potent Blood' button on the menu, but quite a few of them be acquired by playing through the new Seasonal Questline, and as rewards from the new Hunter's Acclaim System.

At the top of the menu, players are able to see which Pacts they have currently available from the Armor pieces they have equipped, and how many Pacts of which type they need to be able to use the Vampiric Powers they have equipped in the five slots. On the left side, players can see the Armor they currently have equipped. Players will also be able to quickly see how many of the five Vampiric Powers are active or inactive, as informed by the Activation Costs they've reached with their Pact Armor. Players can click on the option to spend 25 Potent Blood which will allow them to either improve or unlock new powers. The system makes it so that players will have to choose from three randomly selected Vampiric Powers, locked or unlocked, to spend their Potent Blood on. If a locked Vampiric Power is chosen, it will be unlocked and ready for the player to equip. If it is unlocked, it will be improved instead. Vampiric Powers can be improved up to two times, for a maximum level of three. Potent Blood can be acquired by simply killing Vampire Enemies throughout the Season of Blood, as well as collecting rewards from participating in the different Events in a Blood Harvest.

Pact Armor System in Diablo 4

As mentioned previously, each Vampiric Power has Activation Costs that players have to reach as a prerequisite to equip and use that power. These Activation Costs are also called Pacts and are separated into three types - Pact of Ferocity, denoted by a spiky helmet, Pact of Divinity, denoted by a golden chalice, and Pact of Eternity, denoted by a skullcap. Ferocity refers to the more combative, aspect of being a Vampire and embodies the physical enhancements that can come with the transformation. Eternity highlights the enhanced Vitality that Vampirism brings, and all the various ways that the Wanderer can use this to their advantage. Finally, Divinity caters to the ascendant nature of Vampires, granting them abilities that could hardly have any explanation, especially by mortal logic. Vampiric Powers have Activation Costs that reflect the type of power they bring.

Legendary Armor picked up during the Season of Blood can have Pacts, thus making them into Pact Armor. Pact Armor will have the additional feature of carrying at least one of the three types of Pacts, along with an indication of how many of that Pact they carry. Players will have to match the number of Pacts of the specific type, to the Activation Costs of the Pact Power they want to equip. Players don't have to reach the power's Activation Costs with just one piece of Pact Armor, as the game will count the Pacts from all pieces of Armor they have equipped cumulatively. For example, if players would like to use the Bathe in Blood Vampiric Power, they will need at least 3 Pacts of Divinity and at least 3 Pacts of Eternity spread around the five Pact Armor pieces they have equipped. Otherwise, they will be shown as inactive in the Vampiric Powers tab, and their effects will not be felt at all even if they are equipped.

Luckily, there are new consumables named after the Pacts, like Pact of Ferocity, that when applied to an Armor piece will add one of that Pact type into the Armor. Players also have the option to remove Pacts from an Armor piece by using Cleansing Acid on it, to make way for Pacts they may want to add instead. Pact Armor can have a maximum of five total Pacts, regardless of which they are, and Weapons and Accessories will not/cannot have any Pacts on them. Standalone Pact consumables and Cleansing Acid Items can picked up from Blood Harvest events, the new Questline, and Season Journey cache rewards.
