Avarice, The Gold Cursed is a World Boss in Diablo 4. Avarice, The Gold Cursed is located at the Seared Basin. Avarice, The Gold Cursed is a massive horned demon that possesses a giant mace in its right hand and a chained loot crate on his left. Bosses are special Enemies that can be defeated to complete Quests, progress through the game, and to acquire special Equipment. However, there are Bosses not-related to the main quests and can be found as a side activity or even roaming the world.

World Bosses like Avarice, The Gold Cursed, will start to appear on the map when you finish the campaign. The world boss marker on your map will show which boss it is, a counter to show when the world boss will appear, and the duration of the legendary rewards players can get by defeating the world boss in that period of time. Players are advised to defeat the World Bosses whenever they come up as it is an easy way to get guaranteed Legendary items. Players can take on the World Bosses alone or with their group of friends or other players that are fighting the same world boss.

Avarice, the Gold Cursed is one of the three World Bosses alongside Ashava, The Pestilent and Wandering Death, Death Given Life. As is the case with the other two World Bosses, Avarice, the Gold Cursed has a time limit of 15 minutes.
Avarice deals massive melee damage, using his mace, and will attempt to trample you by using his gold-colored portals. When he is using them, creates a useful opening to revive fallen companions. He will momentarily stop in place after teleporting so players can also use this chance to attack him. Avarice can create protuberances on the ground that have a golden glow that he can later trigger them to explode by slamming his crate on it, the wave of the explosion will knock you back and will cause the rest to explode as well and leave pools of lava. The recovery is quick after the knock back so afterwards and the affected protuberances will not cause knock back waves, so players can take this time to attack Avarice. Time to time he will spew out lava across the area that deals damage when you step on them, so players will have to look out for them as they're dodging out the way of his other attacks.
