Diablo 4 How to Summon Lord Zir

To summon Lord Zir as an Endgame Boss, players will need nine Exquisite Blood that will be consumed. Exquisite Blood can be acquired as loot for defeating World Bosses at World Tier 4, or by completing Legion Events. When you're ready, you can head into The Darkened Way, make your way into the Ancient's Seat, and find the Bloodied Altar, onto which you'll consume the nine Exquisite Blood to enact the Ritual of Blood and summon Lord Zir.

Diablo 4 Lord Zir Strategy Writeup

The weaker version of Lord Zir will have four segments of life, separated by three arrows, while the Endgame version will have five segments of life separated by four arrows. Their movesets seem to more or less be the same, with the weaker version seemingly not as able to create large blood orbs. Regardless, Lord Zir will not have too many different attacks and neither will they change much throughout the course of the fight, but the difficulty will lie in minding all of his attacks' effects in the arena at once, while also taking into account where he is, what he is currently doing, and the different attacks of his Bloodseekers.

Most of Lord Zir's attacks are, if not largely telegraphed, not too strong. Ironically his fastest attack would be his weakest one, which is just him trying to slap you with his large hands, but even this can be avoided. For the most part, you can keep close to him and pile on the damage in between his attacks. When he flaps his wings, that's your cue to be extra mindful of the blood puddles, 'cause it means he'll add some more. Any puddles that touch each other, get touched by a blood droplet on impact, get touched by his slaps, or his blood blade swipes, will shoot out slow-moving blood missiles which you'll want to avoid. They will cause you to be Vulnerable, which will then make all his attacks stronger on you.

After decreasing his life somewhat past the first arrow, he'll start to summon his Blood Seekers and his large blood orbs, both of which will make the fight a lot more complex. Blood Seekers are essentially strong vampiric characters boasting their own Classes and the Skills that come along with them, so they can deal a lot of damage with quicker attacks, and even cause Status Ailments that'll hinder your ability to fight. Make sure you deal with them quick as you can. Luckily, Lord Zir isn't the fastest opponent so you'll have a lot of alone time with his Seekers, provided you can keep watch of the blood puddles and the blood orbs. The blood orb can also summon weaker minions that will just serve as distraction fodder, and even allow you to trigger any on-kill effects to help you out. During this phase, he'll also start to move quickly away from you in a blur of blood, and then charge up a blast of air that spans a wide lane. This can be easily avoided by the telegraphed marker, and it'll allow you to get behind him once he unleashes the attack and let loose your strongest attacks.

At about thirty percent health, he'll mix it up by flapping his wings a couple more times when he starts doing his Blood Rain attack. The first one will make large blood droplets and blood puddles like usual, but the subsequent wing flaps will activate the puddles that are already on the field and have them simultaneously shoot out their blood missiles. This can be tricky to avoid, but the missiles will still move just as slowly so you'll have a lot of time to reposition. Keep being mindful of all the blood, quickly dispatch his Seekers, and overpower him with general speed and he should eventually go down.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Phase 1
Superior Swipe: Lord Zir will try to swat at you with his large hands Move behind him
Blood Rain: Lord Zir will flap his wings to throw out large droplets of blood which inflict damage and create blood puddles on impact. These blood puddles can move slowly and merge if they touch each other. When they're touched by any of Lord Zir's other attacks, they will shoot out slow-moving blood missiles outwards that can also deal damage and render you Vulnerable. The puddles disappear after they shoot out blood missiles. Dodge the circular impact zones, mind and avoid the blood puddles
Twin Blood Scythe: Lord Zir will prop himself up, create large blades of blood along his forearms, and then swipe them both forward Dodge out of the way
Phase 2
Blood Call - Blood Orb: Lord Zir joins his wings together and creates a large floating orb of blood underneath. This orb can move slowly around the battlefield and summon small minions to help him. It can also occasionally drop down putrid blasts in a wider circular area underneath it. Mind the orb and avoid it, along with the blood puddles
Blood Call - Seekers: Lord Zir joins his wings together and creates a Bloodseeker underneath. Quickly defeat the Bloodseekers
Air Blast: Lord Zir moves away from you in a gush of blood and then charges his wings as he tries to aim for your location. When he finishes charging, he unleashes a wide blast of air that can deal damage and push you, in the direction of where you were when he finished charging. Keep moving until he finishes charging and unleashes the attack
Phase 3
Blood Rain - Activate: Lord Zir will flap his wings to throw out large droplets of blood which inflict damage and create blood puddles on impact. Afterward, he'll keep flapping his wings a few times, which will cause all the blood puddles on the battlefield to shoot out blood missiles at the same time every time he flaps. These don't cause the puddles to disappear like usual. Mind the orb and avoid it, along with the blood puddles
