A Deepening Shadow (Side Quest) is a Side Quest in Diablo 4. A Deepening Shadow (Side Quest) can be found at Deep Forest, Scosglen. A foreboding power awakens within the depths of the Dark Thicket. Side Quests are optional missions that players can complete in order to obtain different rewards. Players are usually rewarded XP, and Gold depending on your level. Completing Side Quests in a specific region will also add to the Region Renown. Side Quests can be acquired by encountering various events or interacting with different NPCs.

A Deepening Shadow (Side Quest) Walkthrough
- Speak to Shob`ha at Shob`ha's Perch
Shob`ha will be right in front of the entrance of Shob`ha's Perch. Ask "Who are you?" to begin the quest. The quest will be activated after the end of the dialogue. Your new objective location will be an encircled area southwest of this location marked on the map.
- Search for Barret in the Dark Thicket
Head to your new objective location in the Dark Thicket. Your objective will update as you approach different elements in this location.
- Kill corrupted deer
You may come across a Corrupted Deer that you will need to clear. Your quest will be updated once you have defeated the deer.
- Examine the area
There are a few elements that you can interact with to fulfill this objective. This objective will be accompanied by a meter that can be filled by examining the right items which include a Chewed Corpse, a Pool of Magic, and a Broken Fence.
- Chewed Corpse: The Deer have torn apart various portions of the corpse. What remains is riddled with teeth marks. From he blood trail and marks on the ground, it appears the traveler was alive for some time after the initial attack.
- Pool of Magic: The magic here feels wild and untamed. It carries an undertone of contempt for living things but does not feel demonic in nature.
- Broken Fence: Something large crashed into this fence leaving blood and traces of fur that lead deeper into the thicket.
Interact with all three items to fill up the bar and complete the objective
- Find evidence of what happened to the Barret
Head further down from the examined Broken Fence and you will encounter a few corrupted Bear enemies. One of them will be Barret. It will be am Elite enemy. You will need to clear the bear in order to gain Barret's, Corrupted heart. This will be evidence of what happened to Barret. Pick it up to complete the objective then return to Shob`ha.
- Return to the Shob`ha
Speak to Shob`ha and finish the dialogue to complete the side quest.
