Discretionary Spending is a Side Quest in Diablo 4. Discretionary Spending can be found in Backwater at the Forsaken Coast in Hawezar. Side Quests are optional missions that players can complete in order to obtain different rewards. Players are usually rewarded XP, and Gold depending on your level. Completing Side Quests in a specific region will also add to the Region Renown. Side Quests can be acquired by encountering various events or interacting with different NPCs.
Lyndon needs some muscle to ensure a trade deal goes smoothly.

Discretionary Spending Walkthrough
Begin the Quest by speaking to the boss Lyndon in Backwater. When you're close, he should already be saying he has a job for you. Tell him, "I'll take the job." This will activate the Quest and highlight your next objective location which will be northwest of your location. The area will be indicated by a blue circle, just outside of Backwater. You'll have to wait for Lyndon's little dialogue with Orton to finish before the marker appears. If you haven't already, make sure you activate the Waypoint here in Backwater before you leave.
- Speak with Lyndon outside of Backwater
He'll be standing by a fence. Ask him, "I'm here. Now, what's going on?" You're off to bribe some authorities with some supplies.
- Retrieve Lyndon's stashed supplies
The next objective marker should just be a short distance north. Be wary of any Enemies whose attention you might attract.
- Speak with Lyndon
Our benefactor seems to be muttering something to himself. Not a good sign. Talk to him and ask, "What's wrong?" This seems to be the wrong spot and he's forgotten the exact location.
- Search for Lyndon's supplies
The area you'll need to search is indicated by a blue circle a short distance to the northwest.
- Collect Lyndon's Supplies
You'll find it in the middle of the upper part of the circle, marked by a literal bell. Interact with the stash under the tower and collect the supplies.
- Meet Lyndon's contacts
The next objective will be to the northeast, in Bosun's Woe in the southeastern area of Rotspill Delta. Place an objective marker on your map for the fastest path there.
- Speak with Lyndon's Contact
If you just ran all the way here you might need to kill all the Enemies so you can have a bit of peace. Talk to their leader and say, "We have the supplies." and watch as chaos unfolds.
- Slay the Backwater Traitors
You'll be ambushed by a few Backwater Traitors, who are just human-type Enemies. One will be an Elite though, with a Terrifying Affix. Watch out for him, but make quick work of them all.
- Speak with Lyndon
As his contacts walk away, talk to Lyndon and ask, "What just happened?" Lyndon seems intent on winning out on the arrangement, regardless of the cost to his contacts.
- Speak with Lyndon
This time tell him, "That could have gone better." Seems we have a rat as Lyndon says. This will complete the quest.
