Legacy Unmade is a Side Quest in Diablo 4. Legacy Unmade can be found in the Crags of Ill Wind, at the Sarkova Pass in Fractured Peaks. Side Quests are optional missions that players can complete in order to obtain different rewards. Players are usually rewarded XP, and Gold depending on your level. Completing Side Quests in a specific region will also add to the Region Renown. Side Quests can be acquired by encountering various events or interacting with different NPCs.
Find Parin near the Sanctified Study to sunder the cursed axe.

Legacy Unmade Walkthrough
After completing the Side Quest Chain of Possession, this Quest will automatically be activated and your objective will be highlighted accordingly. In case you left this next Quest for later, your objective will be in the Crags of Ill Wind, at the northeast edge of the Sarkova Pass.
- Meet Parin in the Crags of Ill Wind
Place an objective marker on your map for the fastest path there. You'll find him just across his study, and should automatically speak to you when you get near.
- Enter the Sanctified Study
The door to the Sanctified Study, which is a Cellar in the game, should just be in plain sight. You can find the Cellar on our Interactive Map here: [Diablo 4 Map Link].
- Follow Parin into the Sanctified Study
Inside, move along the short singular path as Parin explains his work, and into a larger room littered with his equipment.
- Pick up the Woodsman's Axe
The axe should appear on the table to the left, only after he finishes talking.
- Place the Woodsman's Axe in the holy water
Interact with the pedestal filled with holy water in the middle of the room to begin the cleansing ritual. When it starts, and bloodied figure of Magdalena will come running after you, but she'll disappear by just hitting her once. There's a known bug here where the Side Quests will freeze at this point for no reason. Players have speculated that it only happens if you defeat Magdalena here too quickly. As such, it's recommended to wait for a few seconds before dispersing her bloodied figure. If the problem still occurs, players should abandon the Side Quest first and then restart it outside. Additionally, some players have found success in doing a different Quest or clearing another Dungeon first before returning to finish his Side Quest.
- Slay the Demon
After Magdalena disappears, The Woodsman will show up as an Elite Enemy again, boasting four Affixes - Terrifying, Vampiric, Cold Enchanted, and Summoner. Watch your Life and deal as much damage as you can at a time, to reduce its Life faster than it can regain it from hitting you. Make sure to make quick work of anything it summons so as not to get overrun.
- Destroy the Woodsman's Axe
After you defeat the demon, interact with The Woodsman's Axe on top of the pedestal to destroy it.
- Speak with Parin
Talk to Parin to confirm the end of the axe's days of possessing people. This will complete the quest.

- Bug: There is a known bug where the Side Quest will freeze after Magdalena's bloodied visage disappears. To avoid this, wait for a few seconds before hitting her. If the bug still occurs, players should either abandon the Side Quest first and restart it, or head out and do a different Quest or Dungeon first before coming back.
