How to get Diablo 4 Legendary Aspects

Players can get D4 Legendary Aspects through two paths:

Codex of Power

Codex of Power serves as a valuable repository of knowledge, providing a curated selection of Diablo 4 Aspects that can be imprinted onto your Equipment:

  • Baseline Selection: Within the Codex of Power, you will find a range of pre-determined Legendary Aspects, offering a solid starting point for enhancing your character. These Aspects bestow impactful effects that can give you a significant advantage in battle.
  • Dungeon Completion: To unlock the Legendary Aspects residing within the Codex of Power, you must prove your mettle by conquering specific Dungeons scattered throughout the realm of Sanctuary. By emerging victorious from these challenging trials, you earn the right to imprint the associated Aspects onto your items.
  • Limitations: It is important to note that the Codex of Power does not encompass the entirety of Legendary Aspects available in the game. Some truly unique and potent Aspects can only be obtained through alternative means.
  • Imprinting Limitations: When imprinting D4 Aspects from the Codex of Power onto your items, the resulting values will always be the lowest possible roll. This means that the power of the Diablo 4 Aspect will be reduced compared to its maximum potential. It is worth considering this limitation when strategizing and seeking additional legendary treasures to unlock their full potential.

Legendary Items

While the Codex of Power offers a convenient shortcut to acquiring Legendary Aspects, a more traditional path involves engaging in combat and vanquishing demons to obtain Legendary Items.

  • Demon Slaying: Engage in thrilling battles, navigate treacherous Dungeons, and face powerful foes to increase your chances of acquiring legendary loot. By repeatedly slaying demons, you create opportunities to obtain coveted Legendary Aspects.
  • Random DropsLegendary Aspects acquired through traditional means are often acquired as random drops from defeated Enemies. Embrace the element of chance and revel in the excitement of each victorious encounter.
  • Full PotentialLegendary Aspects obtained from Legendary items do not suffer from the limitations of imprinted values found in the Codex of Power. They possess their maximum potential, delivering the full force of their enhancing effects. These treasures are the embodiment of power waiting to be harnessed by worthy adventurers.

How to extract a Legendary Aspect in Diablo 4

If you come across a Legendary Aspect on gear that doesn't fit your build, don't despair! You can extract it at The Occultist for a significant Gold fee. Once extracted, the Aspect is stored in your Aspect Inventory tab, ready for use on a different piece of gear. You can even transfer the Aspect to your Stash if your Aspect Inventory is full. Extracted Aspects come with information about which item types they can be imprinted on and any bonuses they provide when imprinted on specific pieces. This is a great way to repurpose powerful Aspects that would otherwise go to waste on gear you don't use.

Can I equip an item with a Legendary Aspect that belongs to another class?

Yes, you can, but doing so, will render the Legendary Aspect unusable in that character, since you can't receive the specifics bonuses.

For example, a Rogue can decide to imprint Aspect of Ancestral Force into a Bow, and can still equip it. However, the bonus of Aspect of Ancestral Force which makes Hammer of the Ancients quakes outwards, dealing a percentage of its damage to enemies, will be useless, since Rogues don't have that Skill.

Barbarian Aspect of Echoing Fury Legendary Aspect Guide

With the Aspect of Echoing Fury equipped, you will generate 2-4 Fury while the effects of a Shout Skill is active. This Fury generation stacks when multiple Shouts are activated. The Aspect is an obvious boon in Shout-based builds, allowing you to have near infinite Fury with multiple Shouts active. However, it can also benefit builds focused on other skill types that struggle with resource management. Whirlwind and Rend in particular are two popular Barbarian Skills that have a Fury cost. Not only will shouts be able to generate Fury for you with this Aspect, but they also provide great effects such as increasing Damage or Movement Speed when activated.

Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:

Barbarian Bold Chieftain's Aspect Legendary Aspect Guide

While you have the Bold Chieftain's Aspect equipped, the Cooldown of any Shout Skill used will be reduced by 1-1.9 seconds per enemy nearby after its use. This effect can stack up to 6 seconds. Each Shout Skill has a fairly long Cooldown - 25 seconds. With this Aspect equipped, you can greatly reduce their Cooldown, allowing you to use them more often and upkeep their buffs and debuffs for longer, especially when paired with Booming Voice. The Bold Chieftain's Aspect is an obvious buff for builds based around Shout Skills. However, like the Aspect of Echoing Fury, this Aspect is great for general use as most other builds can make great use of the buffs and debuffs provided by Shout Skills.

Barbarian Aspect of the Iron Warrior Legendary Aspect Guide

The Skill Iron Skin creates a defensive Barrier around the Barbarian that absorbs damage equal to 50% of their maximum life. The Aspect of the Iron Warrior buffs this Skill  by allowing it to also grant a 10-20% Damage Reduction and make it's user Unstoppable. While a Barbarian is Unstoppable, they are cleansed of and immune to any movement-impairing status effect. As Barbarians need to be in melee-range to be able to damage enemies, being Unstoppable helps greatly when closing the gap towards agile or ranged mobs. This status effect is also great for defensive utility, preventing Barbarians from getting immobilized when trying to flee from disadvantaged battles. The Aspect of the Iron Warrior is a great tool to add to any build, so long as you have the space to slot in Iron Skin.

Barbarian Aspect of Anemia Legendary Aspect Guide

The Aspect of Anemia gives any Barbarian attack a chance to stun enemies for 2 seconds when hitting a Bleeding enemy. As such, it is a great utility item to consider adding to Bleed builds. Needing to be in melee range during combat, Barbarians tend to get hit by enemy attacks before they can reach them. Having the ability to stun enemies gives them a window to finish enemies off without taking any further damage. Do note that this Aspect's effects are reliant on Lucky Hits, however, and that using skills with a higher Lucky Hit Chance will allow you to proc the effect more often. Use this Aspect in conjunction with the Skullbreaker's Aspect to deal extra damage to bleeding enemies.

Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:

Barbarian Aspect of the Dire Whirlwind Legendary Aspect Guide

When equipped, the Aspect of the Dire Whirlwind increases Whirlwind's Critical Chance by 3-8% while the skill is being used. This Crit Chance can stack up to a maximum of 9-24%. This means that the longer that you keep Whirlwind active, the more damage you're going to be outputting, making the Aspect of the Dire Whirlwind a great Offensive Aspect to add to builds centered around the Skill Whirlwind. With the current popularity of Whirlwind among Barbarians, it is no doubt that this aspect remains to be one of the best. With the addition of other passives, such as the one added by upgrading Whirlwind to Violent Whirlwind and a Passive Skill like Heavy Handed, your Whirlwinds will be dealing tons of damage.

Barbarian Aspect of Ancestral Force Legendary Aspect Guide

Hammer of the Ancients is another popular choice when choosing a skill to build around. For builds centered around this skill, the Aspect of Ancestral Force is the Aspect you'll want to heavily consider slotting in. This Aspect increases the AOE of Hammer of the Ancients, allowing it to hit more enemies. Combined with the upgraded version of the skill, Enhanced Hammer of the Ancients, you will get a significant boost to your Fury generation and have a better chance of reaching max stacks on the effect with the Aspect equipped. This increased Fury generation also synergizes well with one of the final upgrades of Hammer of the Ancients. Furious Hammer of the Ancients increases the damage of the skill depending on how much Fury you had when casting it and benefits greatly from the increased fury generation.

Diablo 4 Barbarian Builds

Perfected Juggernaut Barbarian Build (Level 70+ Build)

The Perfected Juggernaut Endgame Build is the evolved version of the Juggernaut Diablo 4 Midgame Barbarian Build that doesn’t use a single Shout Skill, and instead, constantly swaps Weapons to deal massive damage to any type of enemy!

Overview

This Diablo IV Build is a continuation of our Lvl 50 Hammer of the Ancients Juggernaut Build, making some adjustments to maximize performance thanks to the Paragon Boards and Glyphs. The general idea with this D4 Build remains the same. You’ll use Lunging Strike to close the gap with the enemies, followed by Ground Stomp to Stun them. Then, you’ll use Hammer of the Ancients to deal massive AoE damage, and finally Death Blow to finish off any remaining targets. For big groups of enemies, you’ll be using Iron Maelstrom, which decimates everything on the screen while cycling through all Weapons.

The best thing about this Diablo 4 Juggernaut Endgame Build is how engaging it is to play compared to most Barbarian Builds. Most Barbarians rely on Shouts to provide you with passive bonuses and increased damage, leaving you with only 1 or 2 active Skills that you actually use in combat, which becomes boring very fast. On the other hand, this Diablo 4 Barbarian Build gives you a ton of active Skills that you can use depending on the situation, making it feel fresh and rewarding at the same time.

Both Hammer of the Ancients and Death Blow deal an insane amount of damage, and you’ll often see damage by the millions on the screen when landing Critical Strikes.

Ice Vortex Barbarian Build (Level 70 Build)

This Lvl 70 – Whirlwind Barbarian, has the added twist that it also chills enemies. This build deals very high damage and allows you to quickly clear content as soon as you hit Tier IV.

Overview

This whirlwind build has an insane clear speed, allowing you to deal with massive packs of elites in a matter of seconds, while also providing you with max speed at almost all times, which greatly reduces the time it takes to clear a Dungeon. The main difference with other Whirlwind builds is that we’ll be using the Penitent Greaves as a crowd control mechanic.

The Penitent Greaves leave a trail of frost that chills enemies when they stand on top of it, greatly reducing both their movement and attack speed. This allows to easily handle big packs of enemies and allows you to have a better control of the battlefield.

The build is very easy to set up, but has a wide variety of option to further improve it, making it perfect for both players that are just starting with Tier IV, and for players that are looking to quickly farm experience, Nightmare Dungeons or loot in general, as it allows you to clear content many levels above your current without breaking a sweat.

Remember that to maximize damage, you’ll need to build up both Aspect of Limitless Rage and Aspect of the Expectant. To do so, simply use a couple of lunging strikes and keep an eye on top of your skill bar, where you’ll see both buffs. Once the number are at max, you’ll be able to cast whirlwind at its full power.

When using shouts, make sure to hit as many enemies as possible to further reduce their cooldown. If you are using Rallying Cry to navigate the dungeon, use War Cry and Challenging Shout as well, as the paragon glyph will help with cooldowns.

I highly recommend that you spend your Obols on rings, since this will allow you to get good versions of both Aspect of Echoing Fury and Bold Chieftain’s Aspect

Remember to craft and drink Precision Elixirs, which increases both critical strike chance and critical strike damage, further boosting the build performance.

This build is designed to fight multiple enemies at once, so try to run dungeons with tight corridors and big packs.

Whirlwind Barbarian Build (Beginner Build)

The Whirlwind Barbarian Beginner Build is a melee Diablo 4 Barbarian Build that quickly kills large groups of enemies.

Overview

The main feature of this Diablo 4 Whirlwind Barbarian Build is the Whirlwind Skill, which deals damage to multiple enemies at the same time allowing you to decimate huge groups in seconds.

The idea is to start by using Lunging Strike to close the gap between you and the enemies, followed by Rallying Cry to generate enough Fury before activating Whirlwind. Once you have them in your clutches, you should trigger War Cry to acquire Berserking in order to significantly improve your damage. These combinations of buffs will allow this Diablo IV Barbarian Build to maintain Whirlwind while moving forward through any dungeon without having to worry about Fury as long as there are enemies you can hit.

For Elites and Boss fights, you can activate Wrath of the Berserker for an even greater boost in damage and Movement Speed of this D4 Build. Since Shout Skills have a limited duration, you'll need to manage them depending on the situation.

Vortex Barbarian Build (Level 50-70 Build)

The Vortex Midgame Build is the evolved version of the Whirlwind Diablo 4 Barbarian Build that makes you stronger while fighting more enemies and annihilating them by swinging your Polearm.

Overview

This Diablo 4 Vortex Barbarian Build takes from where the Diablo IV Whirlwind Barbarian Beginner Build left off and uses the additional Skill points to boost your damage output, Fury generation, HP regeneration, and overall speed. You'll also be adding the Charge Skill for an additional Unstoppable alternative, and swapping the Weapon Expertise and Technique. You won't be changing any other regular Active Skills, and just focus on passives to further increase your efficiency, trying to achieve almost 100% uptime.

This D4 Barb Build combines many different mechanics into one, to create the ultimate Whirlwind. The idea is to use your Shouts to boost your Fury generation, increase your damage and set up Berserking. Once those effects are active, you'll start using Whirlwind, which will apply Vulnerable, Bleeding, and Slow to enemies. Many effects on this Diablo 4 Build are triggered by Lucky Hit Chance, which is increased by the Polearm Weapon Expertise. The longer you use Whirlwind, the higher the Critical Strike Chance you'll have, which will eventually trigger an Attack Speed boost. The increased Attack Speed will increase the Lucky Hits and Critical Strikes, creating a snowball effect that turns you into an unstoppable killing machine.

Bloody Barbarian Build (Beginner Build)

The Bloody Barbarian Beginner Build is a melee-based Damage Over Time Diablo 4 Barbarian Build that focuses on setting the Bleeding status using Rend and finishing off enemies with Death Blow.

Overview

The general strategy for this Diablo 4 Bloody Barbarian Build is to use Rend to soften up enemies with a good amount of Bleeding damage, before finishing them off with Death Blow. Both of these attacks hit in an AoE cone in front of you, allowing you to strike many enemies at once, which is what makes this Diablo IV Barbarian Build so good. You can wipe out many enemies at once, often in a single attack.

Fury is not a problem for this D4 Build because of the Fighter's Death Blow and Furious Rend passive Skills which generate Fury, as well as the Slaking Aspect. This allows you to focus on mainly using these 2 damaging Skills, and not having to worry about using a Basic Skill like Frenzy to generate Fury all that often (unless you muff up Death Blow).

Beyond this, we also use Skills to help keep us alive like Challenging Shout and Iron Skin, which come in handy when surrounded by many enemies at once, or when fighting a tough boss. And Leap is here to be able to get back to Bosses quickly or get out of sticky situations.

Blood-Soaked Barbarian Build (Level 50-70 Build)

The Blood-Soaked Midgame Build is the evolved version of the Bloody Diablo 4 Barbarian Build that stacks Bleeding damage on enemies and rips them apart by creating a bloody explosion!

Overview

This Diablo 4 Blood-Soaked Barbarian Build takes from where the Diablo IV Bloody Barbarian Beginner Build left off and makes the necessary adjustments to be able to effectively clear World Tier 3 content. We'll not only be swapping out some Skills, but the overall way this Build play changes as well but don't worry because you'll still be bleeding out your enemies to death). This is a very fun Barbarian Diablo 4 Build to play, that requires you to constantly engage with different combos and to adjust your strategy depending on what's happening on the battlefield, allowing it to remain fresh even after a long play session.

First, you'll notice that we are not using any Basic Skills to generate Fury (except while fighting Bosses). Instead, we are using a combination of Leap and Ground Stomp to start off engagements. This will generate enough Fury to get Rend going as well as create two pairs of earthquakes that deal Physical Damage, and provide both increased damage and Damage Reduction.

While enemies are stunned, this D4 Barb Build will use Rend and start applying Bleeding until their bar is almost full. Then, we'll use Rupture to instantly consume the remaining Bleeding on them. Rupture will heal us for 15% of our Maximum Life, and create both a blood explosion and a blood pool, both dealing even more Bleeding damage to any remaining enemies.

For big groups of enemies, we'll use Challenging Shout to reduce incoming damage and further boost Fury acquisition, while we keep Iron Skin as a last resort option for when we are crowd controlled or really low on Health. Remember to replace Leap with Flay before fighting a Boss. This will help you with Fury Generation and increase single-target Bleeding damage.

Juggernaut Barbarian Build (Level 50-70 Build)

The Juggernaut Midgame Build uses a combo-playstyle to inflict massive damage on enemies. It's a very engaging Build that provides a very fast clear speed, and is suitable for players who like seeing big numbers on the screen and destroying bosses in seconds!

Overview

The feature of this Diablo 4 Juggernaut Barbarian Build is the Walking Arsenal Key Passive, which motivates you to constantly swap Weapons while attacking enemies. The main limitation is the amount of Fury that you can spend in combination with the cooldown of some Skills. To overcome this, we'll use a combination of Legendary Aspects, Skills, and passives that will allow us to maintain 100% uptime while keeping the Fury gauge at max at all times.

This Barbarian D4 Build allows you to engage enemies in many different ways, but the general idea is to start off with Lunging Strike (Dual-Wielded) and then using Ground Stomp to Stun enemies. You'll follow up with Death Blow (Slashing) and finally strike with Hammer of the Ancients (Bludgeoning). If any enemy remains alive, you'll use Death Blow again to finish them off and continue into the next group. From here, you'll want to swap to Lunging Strike – HOTA – Death+Blow as your regular combo, but you can adapt to different scenarios as required. If you are getting overrun or facing multiple elites, you can unleash the Iron Maelstrom Ultimate, which decimates everything in the screen while cycling through all your weapons.

This Diablo IV Barb Build acts similar to a glass cannon, as you'll sacrifice some defensive Skills to maximize damage output, but this isn't an issue as you'll be constantly applying Stun, and you kill stuff so fast that they won't even have a chance to strike back.
