Legendary Aspects Overview ♦ Best Necromancer Legendary Aspects Guide
How to get Diablo 4 Legendary Aspects
Players can get D4 Legendary Aspects through two paths:
Codex of Power
Codex of Power serves as a valuable repository of knowledge, providing a curated selection of Diablo 4 Aspects that can be imprinted onto your Equipment:
- Baseline Selection: Within the Codex of Power, you will find a range of pre-determined Legendary Aspects, offering a solid starting point for enhancing your character. These Aspects bestow impactful effects that can give you a significant advantage in battle.
- Dungeon Completion: To unlock the Legendary Aspects residing within the Codex of Power, you must prove your mettle by conquering specific Dungeons scattered throughout the realm of Sanctuary. By emerging victorious from these challenging trials, you earn the right to imprint the associated Aspects onto your items.
- Limitations: It is important to note that the Codex of Power does not encompass the entirety of Legendary Aspects available in the game. Some truly unique and potent Aspects can only be obtained through alternative means.
- Imprinting Limitations: When imprinting D4 Aspects from the Codex of Power onto your items, the resulting values will always be the lowest possible roll. This means that the power of the Diablo 4 Aspect will be reduced compared to its maximum potential. It is worth considering this limitation when strategizing and seeking additional legendary treasures to unlock their full potential.
Legendary Items
While the Codex of Power offers a convenient shortcut to acquiring Legendary Aspects, a more traditional path involves engaging in combat and vanquishing demons to obtain Legendary Items.
- Demon Slaying: Engage in thrilling battles, navigate treacherous Dungeons, and face powerful foes to increase your chances of acquiring legendary loot. By repeatedly slaying demons, you create opportunities to obtain coveted Legendary Aspects.
- Random Drops: Legendary Aspects acquired through traditional means are often acquired as random drops from defeated Enemies. Embrace the element of chance and revel in the excitement of each victorious encounter.
- Full Potential: Legendary Aspects obtained from Legendary items do not suffer from the limitations of imprinted values found in the Codex of Power. They possess their maximum potential, delivering the full force of their enhancing effects. These treasures are the embodiment of power waiting to be harnessed by worthy adventurers.
How to extract a Legendary Aspect in Diablo 4
If you come across a Legendary Aspect on gear that doesn't fit your build, don't despair! You can extract it at The Occultist for a significant Gold fee. Once extracted, the Aspect is stored in your Aspect Inventory tab, ready for use on a different piece of gear. You can even transfer the Aspect to your Stash if your Aspect Inventory is full. Extracted Aspects come with information about which item types they can be imprinted on and any bonuses they provide when imprinted on specific pieces. This is a great way to repurpose powerful Aspects that would otherwise go to waste on gear you don't use.
Can I equip an item with a Legendary Aspect that belongs to another class?
Yes, you can, but doing so, will render the Legendary Aspect unusable in that character, since you can't receive the specifics bonuses.
For example, a Rogue can decide to imprint Aspect of Ancestral Force into a Bow, and can still equip it. However, the bonus of Aspect of Ancestral Force which makes Hammer of the Ancients quakes outwards, dealing a percentage of its damage to enemies, will be useless, since Rogues don't have that Skill.
Diablo 4 Aspects Categories

They are categorized into Offensive, Defensive, Resource, Utility, and Mobility. Each category can only be imprinted on specific gear slots, so you need to carefully consider which aspects to imprint on which item.
- Offensive Aspects: can be imprinted on Gloves, 1H Weapons, 2H Weapons (with a 100% effectiveness bonus), Rings, and Amulets (with a 50% effectiveness bonus).
- Defensive Aspects: can be imprinted on Helms, Chest Armor, Pants, Shields, and Amulets (with a 50% effectiveness bonus).
- Resource Aspects: can be imprinted on Rings
- Utility Aspects: can be imprinted on Helms, Chest Armor, Boots, Gloves, and Amulets (with a 50% effectiveness bonus).
- Mobility Aspects: can only be imprinted on Boots and Amulets (with a 50% effectiveness bonus).
Diablo 4 Best Necromancer Legendary Aspects Guide
Necromancer Blood Getter's/Viscous Aspect Legendary Aspect Guide
The Blood Getter's Aspect and Viscous Aspect perform similar roles in a build, increasing a Necromancer's minion count by two. The only difference between the two aspects are the types of minions they add - while the Blood Getter's Aspect increases the number of Skeletal Warriors in a skeleton army, the Viscous Aspect increases number of Skeletal Mages. Whether or not you're running a minion-focused build, these two aspects are great general-use aspects as having more minions brings good utility to a build.
You won't be able to fit both aspects in all builds and will have to choose between the two. In general, the Blood Getter's Aspect is the better choice, with Skeletal Warriors being better meatshields tanks and providing more reliable damage. With a Corpse Explosion build in particular, having more Reapers in your skeletal army gives you a higher chance to form corpses from enemies, giving you more opportunities to blow them up. There are, however, some niche situations in which you may prefer the Viscous Aspect. In essence-heavy builds, such as a Blood Surge build, more Cold Skeletal Mages may be preferred in order to generate essence quicker. When running the Coldbringer's Aspect, more Skeletal Mages may also be preferred in order to proc Chill more often.
Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:
Skill Name | Skill Effect |
Skirmishers |
Sword-wielding skeletal minions that deal 30% increased damage but have 15% reduced life. Unlocks at level: 5 You can raise one additional Skirmisher warrior Each time you critically strike, your Skirmishers Warriors' next attack Critically Strikes and deals 50% bonus Critical Strike damage. Can only happen every 3 seconds. |
Reapers |
Wields a powerful scythe that has a special wind-up attack, dealing heavy damage every 10 seconds. Unlocks at level : 12 Reaper attacks against enemies who are Immobilized, Slowed, Stunned or Vulnerable reduce the cooldown of the powerful wind-up attack by 2 seconds. Reapers have a 15% chance to carve the flesh off enemies, forming a Corpse. |
Cold Skeletal Mages |
Cold Mages attacks will chill enemies eventually freezing them in their tracks. Unlock at level: 18 Each time your Cold Mages damage enemies with their primary attack, you gain 2 Essence. Enemies who are frozen by or damaged while Frozen by your Cold Mages' primary attack are made Vulnerable for 4 seconds. |

Necromancer Aspect of the Embalmer Legendary Aspect Guide
The Aspect of the Embalmer is a great defensive aspect that can fit many builds. It gives you a 20-30% chance of spawning a Blood Orb on the ground after consuming a corpse. While it isn't outrightly explained how to proc it, consuming a corpse basically means when a corpse is used up in any way, i.e. through the Skill Raise Skeleton when summoning a skeleton from a corpse, or through Corpse Explosion when detonating a corpse.
With the Necromancer Class being a class of low mobility, their survivability depends less on being able to avoid attacks and more on being able to take hits and mitigate damage. Blood Orbs are a great way of keeping a Necromancer alive, healing them for 15% of their Maximum Life when picked up. If you spec into certain Stats, Skills, or other Aspects, these Blood Orbs can grant you even more utility than simply healing.
The two synergies that are worth mentioning are Damage from Blood Orb and Fastblood Aspect. Damage from Blood Orb is an Offensive Stat exclusive to Necromancers. As its name implies, this stat grants the player increased damage for a short while after picking up a Blood Orb, allowing Blood Orbs to not only be a defensive tool, but also offensive. The Fastblood Aspect works well in a build that has an ultimate ability. This aspect reduces the player's Ultimate cooldown by up to one second per Blood Orb picked up. Coupled with a good source of Blood Orbs, this aspect will allow you to use your Ultimate ability often despite usually having long cooldowns.
Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:
Skill Name | Skill Effect |
Raise Skeleton |
Raise a Skeleton from a Corpse to fight from you. Once all of your Skeletons have been summoned, Raise Skeleton briefly summons a Skeletal Priest to empower your Minions for 5 seconds, increasing their damage by 20% and healing them for 10% of their Maximum Life |
Corpse Explosion |
Detonate a Corpse, dealing X [50%] damage to surrounding enemies Physical damage |
Enhanced Hemorrhage |
After picking up a Blood Orb, your next Hemorrhage also deals damage to enemies around your target and grants 2 additional Essence per enemy hit. |
Transfusion |
Blood Orbs also Heal your Minions for 15% of the amount. |
How to get Aspect of the Embalmer in Diablo 4
Aspect of the Embalmer can be obtained by:
- Extracting it from a Legendary Item: By looting a Legendary item, you can extract the Legendary Aspect from it at the cost of sacrificing the item. It has only one use, as once you imprint it, you cannot use it again until you obtain it again from another Legendary item.
Necromancer Blighted Aspect Legendary Aspect Guide
When equipped, the Blighted Aspect increases the player's damage by 50-120% for 6 seconds after inflicting the Shadowblight status effect on enemies ten times. The Shadowblight status effect can be applied on enemies when using any skill that inflicts Shadow Damage while you have the Shadowblight Passive Skill equipped. As such, this Legendary Aspect is well suited for Darkness builds to be able to reliably keep the aspect's effect up.
The Blighted Aspect is a great offensive addition to your build, providing up to 120% damage increase on a good roll. This is on top of the bonus damage already dealt against enemies affected by the Shadowblight status effect. The damage boost may start off slow, but you'll see a significant ramp up of damage as the fight goes on longer. Another great thing about this aspect is that acquiring it is not RNG-dependent and you can obtain it from completing Akkhan's Grasp.
As the effect of the Blighted Aspect procs depending on how many times enemies are hit, to be able to maintain the buff for a longer period of time, you'll want to slot in Skills that do multiple instances of Shadow Damage over time rather than one big burst of damage. Examples of these Skills are Decompose and Blight. Another good source of Shadowblight is Bone Storm. While Bone Storm normally deals Physical Damage, with the Aspect of Ultimate Shadow equipped, its damage type is changed into Shadow Damage. Not only will its big AOE be able to constantly inflict Shadowblight on multiple enemies, but the skill also provides defensive utility, decreasing the damage you and your minions take while inside the area.
Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:
Skill Name | Skill Effect |
Shadowblight |
Shadow Damage infects enemies with Shadowblight for 2 seconds. You and your minions deal 10% [x] bonus damage to enemies with Shadowblight. Every 10th time an enemy receives Shadow damage from you or your Minions while they are affected by Shadowblight, they take additional X [22%] Shadow Damage. |
Decompose |
Tear the flesh from an enemy, dealing X [30%] damage per second and forming a usable Corpse with the flesh every 2.5 seconds. Shadow Damage |
Blight |
Unleash concentrated blight that deals X [30%] damage and leaves behind a defiled area, dealing X [80%] damage over 6 seconds. Shadow Damage |
Bone Storm |
A swirling storm of bones appears around you and your Golem, dealing X [180%] to surrounding enemies over 10 seconds. Physical Damage |
How to get Blighted Aspect in Diablo 4
Blighted Aspect can be obtained by:
- Successfully completing the Akkhan's Grasp dungeon [Map Link] will unlock it in your Codex of Power. Please note that when using a Legendary Aspect from the Codex of Power, you will always receive the lowest value within the range of values that the bonus offers
- Extracting it from a Legendary Item: By looting a Legendary item, you can extract the Legendary Aspect from it at the cost of sacrificing the item. It has only one use, as once you imprint it, you cannot use it again until you obtain it again from another Legendary item.
Necromancer Blood-bathed Aspect Legendary Aspect Guide
The Blood-bathed Aspect works well in Blood builds featuring the Skill Blood Surge. When Blood Surge is used, you siphon life from an enemy with the first hit, after which you will create an explosion around you, dealing increased damage for each enemy siphoned from. With the Blood-bathed Aspect equipped, you will perform a second explosion after the first two hits of the skill, albeit with slightly lower damage.
This may sound a little underwhelming, but in Blood builds where Blood Surge is your main source of damage and lifesteal, you'll definitely want to think about slotting in the Blood-bathed Aspect. The first reason being that it's free extra damage, increasing your damage output. In addition, acquiring this aspect is not RNG-dependent; you can get this Legendary Aspect by completing Hoarfrost Demise.
You'll really start to see the aspect shine, however, when Blood Surge is upgraded to Paranormal Blood Surge. With this version of Blood Surge, you gain stacks of Overwhelming Blood every time an enemy is damaged with the explosive nova while you are Healthy, i.e. at 80% health or above. After you gain 5 stacks of Overwhelming Blood, your next cast of Blood Surge Overpowers, i.e. deals increased damage based on your current Life and Fortified Life. You shouldn't have much issue being Healthy with the lifesteal on this skill, allowing you to gain stacks of Overwhelming Blood with almost every cast of Blood Surge. With the second nova explosion added from the Blood-bathed Aspect, you'll be stacking Overwhelming Blood twice as fast, and Overpowering your Blood Surges twice as often as well. Pair this with the passive Tides of Blood, and you'll be a lifestealing powerhouse.
There are also Blood builds that feature Blood Lance as a core Skill instead. For those builds check out the Blood Seeker's Aspect and the Aspect of Rathma's Chosen.
Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:
Skill Name | Skill Effect |
Blood Surge |
Draw blood from enemies, dealing X [20%] damage, and expel a blood nova, dealing X [50%] damage. Blood Surge's nova damage is increased by 10% [x] per enemy drained, up to 50% [x]. |
Paranormal Blood Surge |
If an enemy is damaged by Blood Surge's nova while you are Healthy, then gain 1 stack of Overwhelming Blood. When you have 5 stacks of Overwhelming Blood, your next Blood Surge Overpowers. |
Tides of Blood |
Your Blood Skills deal 5% [x] increased Overpower damage. This bonus is doubled while you are Healthy. |
How to get Blood-bathed Aspect in Diablo 4
Blood-bathed Aspect can be obtained by:
- Successfully completing the Hoarfrost Demise dungeon [Map Link] will unlock it in your Codex of Power.
Necromancer Cadaverous Aspect Legendary Aspect Guide
The Skill Corpse Explosion remains a powerful skill. However, with the nerf to the Aspect of Explosive Mist, it can't be used as the sole damage dealer in a build anymore and is usually paired with another strong damage-dealing skill. This is where the Cadaverous Aspect comes in. When equipped, consuming a corpse increases the damage of your next Core Skill by 5-10%, and this damage buff can stack up to 25-50%. There are only a few ways to consume corpses in Diablo 4, and Corpse Explosion is one of (if not) the quickest ways to do so, making it a great way to proc the effect of this aspect.
The most common Core Skill you'll see used in builds featuring Corpse Explosion is Bone Spear. Bone Spear on it's own deals good damage, especially when paired with passives such as Imperfectly Balanced. However, you'll see the true synergy between the two skills when both are upgraded. Upgrade Bone Spear to Supernatural Bone Spear to allow the skill to inflict Vulnerable on hit, making Corpse Explosion deal more damage to enemies afterwards. When Corpse Explosion is upgraded to Plagued Corpse Explosion, the skill deals extra damage against Vulnerable enemies, dealing even more explosive damage to enemies when paired with the Vulnerable status effect from Bone Spear.
Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:
Skill Name | Skill Effect |
Corpse Explosion |
Detonate a Corpse, dealing X [50%] damage to surrounding enemies Physical damage |
Plagued Corpse Explosion |
Corpse Explosion deals 8% [x] increased damage to enemies that are Slowed, Stunned or Vulnerable. These damage bonuses can stack. |
Bone Spear |
Conjure a bone spear from the ground, dealing X [85%] damage and piercing through enemies. Physical damage |
Supernatural Bone Spear |
Bone Spear makes the first enemy hit Vulnerable for 3 seconds. |
Raise Skeleton |
Raise a Skeleton from a Corpse to fight from you. Once all of your Skeletons have been summoned, Raise Skeleton briefly summons a Skeletal Priest to empower your Minions for 5 seconds, increasing their damage by 20% and healing them for 10% of their Maximum Life |
Sever |
A specter of you charged forward and attacks with its scythe for X [63%] damage then returns to you and attacks again for X [21%] damage. Shadow Damage |
How to get Cadaverous Aspect in Diablo 4
Cadaverous Aspect can be obtained by:
- Extracting it from a Legendary Item: By looting a Legendary item, you can extract the Legendary Aspect from it at the cost of sacrificing the item. It has only one use, as once you imprint it, you cannot use it again until you obtain it again from another Legendary item.
Necromancer Aspect of Serration Legendary Aspect Guide
The Aspect of Serration is well-suited to builds featuring Bone Skills, as it buffs the Passive Skill Ossified Essence. When slotted in, Ossified Essence increases the damage of all Bone Skills per Essence point you have above 50. With the Aspect of Serration, this Passive Skill also increases the Critical Damage of all Bone Skills per Essence above 50, making it a great offensive Aspect.
The Serrated Aspect is a good Legendary Aspect to consider slotting in as you'll find many Bone Skill-related upgrades and passives increase or interact with Critical Hits. As such, Bone builds tend to favor Crit-based bonuses. There are a few skills to take special note of when making a Crit-based Bone Build. First, Serration increases the Critical Chance of all Bone Skills for each 10 Essence you have when casting the skill. Bone Splinters is also one you should heavily consider. As many Bone Skills also have increased damage/special effects when at certain Essence levels, you'll want a reliable Essence builder like Bone Splinters slotted into your build. What's great is that Bone Splinters can also make use of the various Critical Hit bonuses that impact the other Bone Skills in the build.
Some other skills that will work best with this Unique Equipment are listed below:
Skill Name | Skill Effect |
Ossified Essence |
Your Bone Skills deal 1% [x] increased damage for each point of Essence you have above 50 upon cast. |
Serration |
Your Bone skills have a 0.3% [+] increased Critical Strike Chance for each 10 Essence you have upon cast. |
Bone Spirit |
Consume all of your Essence to conjure a spirit of bone that seeks enemies. Upon reaching an enemy, the spirit explodes, dealing X [80%] damage to the target and all surrounding enemies. Damage is increased by 3% [x] for each point of Essence spent casting Bone Spirit. Physical Damage |
Bone Storm |
A swirling storm of bones appears around you and your Golem, dealing X [180%] to surrounding enemies over 10 Physical Damage |
Bone Splinters |
Fire 3 Bone Splinters, dealing X [8%] damage each. Each subsequent time an enemy is hit by the same cast of Bone Splinters, you gain 1 Essence. Physical Damage |
How to get Aspect of Serration in Diablo 4
Aspect of Serration can be obtained by:
- Extracting it from a Legendary Item: By looting a Legendary item, you can extract the Legendary Aspect from it at the cost of sacrificing the item. It has only one use, as once you imprint it, you cannot use it again until you obtain it again from another Legendary item.
